Overview

Yarra Valley Gourmet Tour is another must do if you enough time. We start the day with an exclusive “touch, smell & taste” tour of the extensive greenhouse facilities at Gateway Market. Enjoy an immersive tour of the expansive greenhouses, led by experienced hoticulturalists who are passionate about sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship. The tour includes the Edible Garden section, where you’ll encounter a bountiful assortment of herbs, vegetables, and fruits. Gain insights into sustainable gardening practices, organic farming techniques, and the benefits of growing your own food. Learn about the importance of promoting local and seasonal produce for a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. Afterwards, we’ll tuck in to some delicious fruit platters to fuel up for the day ahead!

Next, we travel to one of the valley’s true icons, Balgownie Estate where we’ll enjoy a tasting from their extensive range of quality wines. We’ll learn how to swirl, sniff, and slurp like true connoisseurs while tasting some of the very finest cool climate wines.

The amazing produce at the Coldstream Dairy will truly melt in your mouth. The cheeses here are truly stunning and will have your tastebuds working overtime!

Our lunch is at the fabulous Rochford Wines where our guests can choose from four different main meals, with a glass of wine and tea or coffee. Enjoy an included wine tasting here. Take some time to explore the gift shop, or perhaps climb the spiral staircase to enjoy the panoramic views from Rochford’s famous lookout tower.

Yarra Valley Gourmet Tour.  After lunch we’ll visit the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie where you’re welcomed with an exclusive chocolate tasting, displays of thousands of premium chocolates, and European chocolatiers at work handcrafting their chocolate creations.

You will commence the journey home knowing that you have enjoyed the very best that the Yarra Valley has to offer.

Can we bring food on tours?
On all of our tours, meal breaks are made at appropriate times an we always try to make sure that there are opportunities to select for a range of meal providers. You will always be able to access vegetarian and gluten free options as well.
What kind of wines we will taste?
The Yarra Valley is a cool-climate wine growing region, so the wines produced here are typically quite light and fruity. Each of our wine tasting locations will provide a selection of around half-a-dozen of their wines, typically commencing with a light white wine and finishing with a red wine, or perhaps even a dessert wine. If there is a wine in their range that isn’t included in the winery’s selection on the day, feel free to ask the winery staff if you may taste a different wine, as they are keen to showcase the wines you’re most interested in sampling.
Are gluten free / Veg food available?
Yes, the standard lunch menu at Rochford Wines includes both gluten-free and vegetarian options. If your dietary requirements are more specialised than this (e.g. vegan), please be sure to make a note when placing your booking, so that we can give the kitchen as much notice as possible regarding your particular requirements.
What time we will return?
This tour returns to the city at about 5:00 pm. Upon arrival back in the city, your guide will drop off guests in the most efficient manner they can possibly manage.
