Take a deep breath of fresh Tasmanian air and sense the southern island's rich history as you arrive into beautiful Hobart. You will be personally met at the airport representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Hobart.

Enjoy a comprehensive three hour tour of Hobart and surrounds, including 5 stops and plenty of amazing photo opportunities. Experience plenty of time at Port Arthur. Port Arthur's history contrasts with the stark beauty of the surrounding Tasman Peninsula. The scenic Convict Trail Touring Route between Hobart and Port Arthur takes in breathtaking rugged seascapes, passes through rolling farmlands, quaint historic villages, past vineyards, artists' studios, magnificent sweeping bays and Tasman National Park.

Enjoy a relaxing slow-paced start at your hotel with plenty of time to explore Hobart this morning, before your action-packed fast-boat cruise this afternoon.
This afternoon we venture down the Derwent River to explore the spectacular ocean coastline on a luxury small-group cruise (with a maximum of 12 people). Discover the renowned waterways that influence Hobart's lifestyle. Visit Australia's oldest lighthouse, circumnavigate Betsey Island and uncover the city's rich maritime past.

DAY 5: Bruny Island Wilderness, Wildlife Eco Cruise

Travel out to Tasmania's wilderness coast at Bruny Island and experience the famous wildlife eco-cruise that takes you literally between the incredible geological features. This comprehensive three hour wilderness cruise is the eco-cruise of a lifetime. Travel on-board a "4WD of the sea" power boat with the power and agility to get right amongst nature to see everything up close but also features the comfort of stability, great seating, an overhead canopy and even on-board toilet. Cruise along Bruny Island's rugged Southern Tasmanian coastline to spot the island's abundant wildlife such as seals, dolphins and whales. Sit at the bottom of Bruny Island's towering sea cliffs, feel the joy of being surrounded by 1000s of seals and watching dolphins surf on the bow wave of the boat.

We start the day by touring from Hobart past Mt Wellington and Mt Nelson as we travel into Tasmania's southern wilderness through Kingston, Margate, Oyster Cove, D'Entrecasteaux Channel to Kettering before driving onto the ferry for the crossing to Bruny Island across Great Bay, where morning tea is waiting for you. This is some of the closest land to Antarctica.

Your full three hour cruise covering 50km begins. Discover a remote and wonderful place as you cruise out of Adventure Bay, around Penguin Island and travel along the spectacular coastline towards The Friars

DAY 6: Transfer to Launceston
DAY 6: Transfer to Launceston

Enjoy a leisurely start to your day this morning. You will be personally met at your Hobart hotel by a DISCOVER AUSTRALIA representative and transferred to your Launceston hotel along the beautiful ‘Heritage Highway’. The Heritage Highway traces much of the original route between Launceston and Hobart, built by convict road gangs in the early 1800's. Drive through expansive rolling farmlands and charming rural Georgian villages where Tasmania’s rich and colourful history is so evident, you’ll feel taken back in time. There’s plenty to admire along the journey.

You have the rest of the afternoon to get settled into your Launceston hotel and explore the town at your own pace.

Crystal azure blue waters with pristine white beaches and outcrops of orange lichen covered granite rocks make the scenery at the famous Bay of Fires simply breathtaking.

Your friendly driver will pick you up in the comfortable air-conditioned luxury coach before sharing experiences, fascinating facts and enchanting stories in the on-board full commentary throughout the day.

Undertake a journey of splendour, excitement and history as you cruise Launceston's stunning Tamar River, Australia's longest navigable tidal estuary. See the wonderful local wildlife in their natural environment, pelicans, sea eagles, swans and seals abound here. As the river meanders its way through the paradisiacal surroundings you'll see the spectacular Cataract Gorge, the majestic sliver of natural beauty right in the heart of Launceston.

Today you will experience a truly memorably 4 hour river cruise along the Tamar River. You'll learn the fascinating history of the river and its surrounds with informative commentary from the skipper as you partake in morning tea, sample delicious local treats like cheese and fruit platters, enjoy local beer and wine tastings and your Special Lunch.

DAY 9: Cradle Mountain

Today we travel to the top of Cradle Mountain. Go deep into the Tasmanian forest and experience the grand wilderness of waterfalls, glacial lakes, rainforest, wildlife and unsurpassed beauty. Awaken your senses to the magnificent splendour that is Cradle Mountain. Catch your breath as you first glimpse the craggy outcrop of majestic Cradle Mountain towering above sparkling Dove Lake plateau.

When and where does the tour end?
Your tour will conclude in San Francisco on Day 8 of the trip. There are no activities planned for this day so you're free to depart at any time. We highly recommend booking post-accommodation to give yourself time to fully experience the wonders of this iconic city!
When and where does the tour start?
Day 1 of this tour is an arrivals day, which gives you a chance to settle into your hotel and explore Los Angeles. The only planned activity for this day is an evening welcome meeting at 7pm, where you can get to know your guides and fellow travellers. Please be aware that the meeting point is subject to change until your final documents are released.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
